In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Observation
The prologue opens with creation language and revelation language in the same breath. “Beginning” echoes Genesis; “Word” names the One through whom God speaks and acts.
Word study
Logos carries speech, reason, and ordered meaning. John does not float a Greek abstraction: he identifies the Word with a person who was “with God” and who “was God.”
